Dining Hall

Middle School students having lunch in Rectory's dining hall.

Mealtime at Rectory means delicious food in a comfortable setting. Every month, students are assigned to a different table, headed by a faculty member who is assisted by a ninth-grade student. In this way, day students get to know boarding students, sixth graders get to know eighth graders, international students get to know American students, and everyone increases their friendships. Students take turns being waiters, serving the table during family-style dinners and clearing the table after each meal. Faculty members teach manners and encourage polite conversation. These important life skills learned at meals build community and confidence among our students.

Chef Dave takes pride in creating dishes that entice every palate, and he encourages students to share their suggestions and culinary passions. In response to requests from a number of international students, rice cookers are available at dinner every night. Students have a variety of healthful choices at each meal. For instance, lunch offerings include an exceptional salad bar, homemade soup, an extensive sandwich bar, and a hot entrΓ©e, with vegetarian options available on request.
